Shane Dawson, Kurt Hugo Schneider and Sam Tsui took the 2016 Streamy Awards stage for a special tribute to fellow YouTuber, singer and musician Christina Grimmie.
Shane first shared heartfelt words about the singer, saying, “Christina Grimmie was one of my very favorite people, not only because she was caring and humble and always made people feel like they mattered, but because the first thing she said when she met me was, ‘OMG! Your videos are really, really gross, but for some reason, I love you,’ and that really stuck with me, because it showed that she was unfiltered and funny, but most importantly that she wasn’t judgmental. No matter who you were or what you believed in or how gross your humor was, Christina made you feel accepted.”

Shane went on to say, “The night I met her we talked about why she started making YouTube videos, she said that she didn’t start because of money or fame. She started because she wanted people to connect with her music and her dream was to have one of her songs be someone’s favorite song. She might be physically gone now, but her music will forever continue to make people feel accepted and not judged and not alone. Thank you Christina for every beautiful moment and thank you for every beautiful song.”
Then, Kurt and Sam performed a medley of covers and Christina’s original songs, including “Liar Liar,” “Advice” and Christina’s iconic viral cover of “Just a Dream” she recorded with Sam and Kurt.
Photos of Christina appeared onscreen behind Sam as he sang and Kurt played piano. The performance ended with a video of Christina singing her song “With Love.”
