Guidelines, Eligibility and Submissions Schedule
The Streamy Awards celebrates and honors excellence in Web television. Any original production produced for broadband distribution with a minimum of three (3) episodes released in the 2009 calendar year can qualify for consideration for the 2010 Streamy Awards.
Anyone may submit a web series or individual for consideration during the Public Submissions period. Please feel free to submit yourself or your own web series for consideration. For each category, the series or individual with the greatest number of Public Submissions will automatically become an Official Nominee. The remaining Official Nominees are determined solely by members of the International Academy of Web Television (IAWTV), which review all submissions meeting the minimum entry guidelines. Members of the IAWTV will also select the winner of each category.
The Audience Choice Award is determined by popular vote. The ten (10) series with the most Public Submissions in the Overall categories will serve as Official Nominee. Everyone has the opportunity to vote for the winner of the Audience Choice Award.
The Awards
There are three types of awards presented at The Streamy Awards:
- The Streamy Awards honor excellence in the arts and sciences of web television production, and recognizes series and individuals in thirty-five (35) categories of distinction
- The Visionary Award recognizes an individual whose work and influence have been fundamental to the evolution and growth of web television
- The Audience Choice Award celebrates the best web television series from the past year as chosen by the public
Rules and Processes
- Eligibility: Any original production produced for broadband distribution with a minimum of three (3) episodes released in the 2009 calendar year can qualify for consideration for the Streamy Awards and Audience Choice Award. The series must be available online, either via a major video sharing site or unique URL. Web series eligibility is determined by the International Academy of Web Television. All nominees must adhere to the Nominee Terms and Conditions.
- Fees: There are no required fees to submit a Series for an award. Neither the Streamy Awards nor the International Academy of Web Television accepts payment or gifts for consideration. Certain submissions, however, may require a fee. All such submission fees are non-refundable. If you encounter a technical problem with the submission process, please email help@streamys.org.
- Submissions: During the Public Submissions period, members of the public are encouraged to submit the names and URLs of web series and individuals for consideration across thirty-five (35) categories. Only one submission per IP address per day is allowed. Web series and individuals may only be submitted via the submission forms found on the Streamys.org domain and via direct emails to submissions@streamys.org for consideration on a case-by-case basis. Use of a submission form on an external site or server constitutes a violation of the rules and is grounds for disqualification. The International Academy of Web Television reserves the right to disqualify votes and submissions at its sole discretion.
- Audience Choice for Best Web Series: The Public Submissions are used to determine the Audience Choice Award Semi-Finalists. The top ten (10) most submitted series in the eleven (11) overall categories become the Audience Choice Award Finalists. During the Public Voting period, the public is invited to vote on the Finalists to determine the Audience Choice Award for Best Web Series of the Year. A total of one vote per IP address per day will be counted towards the final vote. Multiple votes per day from the same IP address are subject to review and disqualification. Any and all votes that are determined to be fraudulent or submitted in an attempt to game the system will be discarded. Use of a submissions form on an external site or server constitutes a violation of the Official Streamy Awards rules and is grounds for disqualification. The International Academy of Web Television reserves the right to disqualify votes at its sole discretion. Votes for the Audience Choice Award are tabulated and the winner is announced at the Streamy Awards Ceremony.
- Audience Choice by Category: The Public Submissions are also used to determine one (1) Official Nominee for each of the Overall, Writing, Directing, and Performance categories of the Streamy Awards. The top most submitted series or individual in each of the non-Craft categories automatically becomes one of the five Official Nominees. The remaining Official Nominees are selected by Peer Groups within the IAWTV. Once the Official Nominees are announced, the International Academy of Web Television determines the winners in each category. Members of the International Academy of Web Television may not vote for a Nominee where there exists a conflict of interest.
- Announcements: The Streamy Awards winners are announced at the Streamy Awards and the Craft Awards ceremonies. Nominees understand that all awards may not be given or publicized in the same manner and some might be presented in a ceremony and others might not.
