And They’re Off!

Today marks the beginning of the 2010 Streamy Awards season with the launch of a the new 2010 Streamys.org website, never-before-seen footage from the 2009 Streamys ceremony and, most importantly, the call for entries!
The past few years marked a seismic shift in entertainment—finally, talented and passionate artists no longer need permission to create. The Streamy Awards are devoted to advancing this movement.
The monumental success of the 1st Annual Streamy Awards speaks to the groundswell of support and goodwill generated by the community of entertainment innovators literally re-thinking the media production landscape. This process is truly by and for cutting-edge creators.
In 2009, our principal goal was to build a credible organization and ceremony to properly acknowledge the innovation and achievement that we saw around us every day. The 2010 Streamys is about advancing open entertainment and its benefits to both consumers and creators by showcasing the staggering creative expression online. Our goal is to propel the new entertainment ecosystem by empowering a growing group of creators while helping everyone else find content that they love.
Before long, the line between new and traditional media will be completely blurred. Our job as creators, curators and enthusiasts is to galvanize the spirit of self-motivation and a creator-control that’s made online entertainment so special. That sentiment was captured best by Joss Whedon during his acceptance speech at the 2009 Streamys:
