Making Sense of the Awards
There are three types of awards presented at the Streamy Awards: the Streamy Awards, the Audience Choice Award, and the Visionary Award.
The Streamy Awards
The Streamy Awards honor excellence in the arts and sciences of web television production, and recognize series and individuals in thirty-five categories of distinction. The winners are selected by the International Academy of Web Television (IAWTV) through a nominations process that starts with you, the public. During the open Public Submissions period, the public is encouraged to submit their top choices for consideration by the IAWTV. In certain categories (excluding the Craft Categories), the most submitted series or individuals automatically become one of the five Official Nominees. The remaining Official Nominees are selected by peer groups within the IAWTV. After the Official Nominees are announced, the IAWTV reviews and votes on the winners, which are announced at the Streamy Awards and Craft Awards ceremonies.
The Audience Choice Award
The Audience Choice Award for Best Web Series is the only award determined completely by the public. During the Public Submissions period, the most submitted series in the Overall Series categories become the ten Official Nominees for the Audience Choice Award. During the Public Voting period, the public may vote daily on their favorite show up until the winner is announced at the end of the Streamy Awards Ceremony.
The Visionary Award
The Visionary Award recognizes an individual whose work and influence have been fundamental to the evolution and growth of web television. It is determined by a special committee of the IAWTV, and is publicly announced before the Streamy Awards Ceremony.
